Dev Log 3: Beta
When creating the last prototype, I figured it was best to keep the scope how it was. After careful consideration and time, I had to scope down from my idea due to time constraints. I figured that since this game was more storytelling and less about mechanics, I figured it was time to really think about my scope better. When improving off the last time, I found out that my builds were not having the best time transferring from machine to machine so I had to scope down due those issues. Since the art build, I have kept the art style pretty much the same. Many who have tried my game out believe that the art build theme was good, just needed some work in order to give the player that feeling that they are really trying to escape somewhere. Little things that I have added were making the main menu actually work. My game finally has a main menu with the art implemented in there as well. I am thinking of adding into the actual UI of the game a little text box in the top right corner to signify what goal you are trying to achieve in order to reach the next level. Once I have the levels set back up, I will implement those guides into the game. My game really focuses on the minor details, but also on sound. I already have implemented an intro dialogue text to get a feel of how my NPC would sound like. So far, I am satisfied with it and I will continue to work on those as the game is being developed. That being said, the decision making mechanic in the game will be done with certain actions that are activated by triggers. Each trigger will play a dialogue that will affect the rest of the gameplay. The problem I am having now between both builds is that I am working backwards. As much as I would like to progress when it comes to the project, I am in the process of tweaking all the nooks and crannys of the previous build. It’s quite unfortunate, however, I am this period of time was much needed to make the game possible to be fully playable and interactable. In the next build, I plan to added a UI for interactions such as buttons, opening doors, and talking to the NPC. Lov. Below are some tweaks to the first room, although I have not much to show this time, the next time around will have more to show!
Below are some screenshots of what the very minor changes are, but also a sneak peak at what Lov’s voice sounds like! You can see in the screen shot that there is finally audio for him.
